Widening the side deflectors on the front intakes means air can flow behind the front wheels.

It can then slide along the doors, make a shortcut through the rear wheels and out from the huge rear openings. The result is a reduction in the total flow path and subsequent drag. Visually, the leaping jaguar logo has inspired the side profile, while up front the headlights have been shaped to give the car a look of an aggressive feline ready to pounce. Notable features on the concept include side mirrors that disappear into the body when the car is stopped and unfold once it turns on, and the regenerative power system.

As almost 60 percent of energy used by a car at highway speeds is spent countering air friction, the body of the Jaguar XKX concept is covered by a layer housing microscopic ripples of piezoelectric cells. When air flows over them, the pressure created produces electricity that is fed to the vehicle’s battery

He went on to say that although a supermini was his preferred option, it would be hard to make a business case for it. Jaguar recognizes the need for it to expand in order to compete and other projects it could pursue include an X-type replacement to rival the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4, while they are also working on an aluminum-bodied crossover. “We understand that we need to increase our portfolio. Not just from a business point of view, but we also need to get our brand more visible,” Callum told the British automotive magazine.

3. Bugs, bugs, bugs: With the heat, brings the bugs. Have you ever been showered with a cloud of bugs into the windshield? Have you ever waited more than a few days to take off the layer of bug guts of your car and found out some of these guts are now permanent accessory to your paint job?  Here are some helpful tips on keeping those buggers off!

• Wax every three months – this helps with all types of bugs and critters from sticking.
• Wash often – You wash once a week. During love bug season, you wash two-three times.  Car care experts say drivers should remove love bugs from their car as quickly as possible.  The insects are slightly acidic and can burn into car paint if left on too long. If you don’t have time to wash, spray your hood immediately when you get home to get them off immediately.
• Clear wrap protects – Road Wrap is a disposable film that is wrapped around your vehicle to protect it from bugs,
• rocks, and other items that can harm your vehicle’s paint.
• Car bras are not a solution – There is a danger in using car bras as a love bug defense. The bad thing if bugs get on the bra and you don’t wash them off, it will restrict flow to your radiator and your car will run hot over time.
• Bug Remover – there are numerous solutions out there that you can get online or at auto supply store that specialize in bug removal. These are great resources if you wash your own car.

4.    Keeping you and your car cool. Also, how do you keep your car cooler than a toaster oven. Here are some simple tips on keeping your car cooler during these killer temperatures.

• Get window shade that covers your entire front window – Toyota offers a Heat Shield shade. Check with our parts department. Just make sure you invest in a shade that covers the window completely.
• Park in the shade. Find a nice tree and walk a little farther.
• Get your windows tinted – Having all your windows tinted will alleviate 40-50% of the heat. Check with our service department.
• Crack the windows slightly. Doing this can help to ventilate your car instead of having steam or hot air build up in your car. The windows on your vehicle have the same effects of a green house.
• Tilt your sunroof, but keep the sun blocker almost closed.
• Window visors allow you to keep the windows open a crack. The crack will not leak during a rain storm. Check with our parts department.
• Sunshades are transparent shades that you can attach to your car window by a suction cup. This will block about 75% of the sun.
• Pour a bottle of water on the car just before getting in. It will drop the temperature of the car drastically.
• Invest in a car cover. This also helps with protecting your car other elements dropping onto your car. Check with our parts department.
• Remote start and open your windows and sunroof.
• If you don’t have remote and are going to load the car, get the car started with the AC blowing and get windows rolled down to circulate the air.
• Prevent the sun from ever hitting the sunroof glass directly by applying body color matched vinyl sticker on the exterior of your sunroof. Check with our parts

• department.
• Travel only early in the morning or later in the evening when the temperatures are cooler.
• When you are not driving your car and if you are at home, you should park your car in a garage. Garage parking is always better than parking on the street or your driveway because it protects your car from sun and other weather elements. Parking in a garage will keep your car cool until you are ready to leave your house.

Maybe it’s the sunshine, or the fact that the vehicles all appear to be so spotlessly-clean? Perhaps it’s that every luxury car looks great with palm trees? Whichever, I still am taken with our vehicles’ road presence when I see them cruising around Orlando.

The Los Angeles Auto Show had such a major presence during last week’s two press days.
They kicked things off with a stylish pre-show VIP event right off of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. It was a great evening with literally hundreds of customers, dealers, entertainment industry VIPs, and global media who came together to celebrate Jaguars newest designs. Special guests included Jay Leno who stopped by to see the Jaguar C-X16 concept and Ben McKenzie who plays a police officer in the TV show Southland.

Teased last year as the C-X16 Concept study, the new F-TYPE roadster is being readied for production.

As expected, Jaguar has finally announced that an all-new sports car based on the C-X16 concept that debuted at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show will enter production.  At the New York Auto Show, the company revealed that the new entry-level sports car will carry the ‘F-TYPE’ moniker and launch as a two-seat roadster. Apart from confirming “a range of engines will be available, including a new power plant family,” Jaguar failed to confirm any other details.

Speaking at the New York auto show Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars, said: “We showed the C-X16 concept in September 2011, and the reaction to it has been so positive that we’ve accelerated our development of an all-new Jaguar sports car. That car will be called the Jaguar F-TYPE, and it will be unveiled in production form later this year.”For reference, the C-X16 concept study featured an innovative supercharged 3.0-liter V6 producing 380hp and 332lb-ft of torque. It also had a steering wheel-mounted ‘Push to Pass’ button that increases output by 92hp and 173lb-ft when pressed.
The Jaguar F-TYPE has now moved into the final road testing phase, with engineering prototypes placed into service at Jaguar’s Castle Bromwich plant in the British Midlands where the production car will get built. Check out the video presented by former F1 driver Martin Brundle who went down there for a quick ride. Jaguar will announce the F-TYPE’s technical specs and range details later this year, probably at September’s Paris Motor Show, and the car will go on sale in mid-2013.

Even in the 21st century, Jaguar continues to build some of the most beautiful cars on the market. And nothing has changed from their historic past, as this 1954 XK120 proves all too well.

Jaguar is synonymous with gorgeous cars. Even before the legendary XKE debuted at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, models such as the XK120 graced the world with its striking presence and sheer beauty.Launched in 1948, it was the world’s fastest car. “120″ referred to its top speed: 120 mph. The first cars were hand-built with all-aluminum bodies, but due to increased demand, Jaguar was forced to replace them with steel-pressed bodies. The doors, hood, and trunk lid, however, remained aluminum.

It was powered by a 3.4-liter straight-6 engine that ranged in power from 160hp to 210hp, depending on the trim level.

Mechanically, the owners have kept the car up to date, with the current owner having had the engine completely rebuilt in 2003.Since then just 2,500 miles have been added. There’s also a new clutch, brakes, tires and chrome wheels. The interior has also been meticulously cared for and has original parts such as the original steering wheel.

However, the owner has upgraded things like the new carbon fiber gauge cover and a newer Jaguar racing steering wheel.The car has also been recently appraised by a Jaguar specialist who verified that there’s zero rust and mechanical issues. Interested? $94,000 is the price for admission.

The hybrid super car concept was revealed back in 2010, and early last year Jaguar announced a limited number of its C-X75 would be launched in late 2013.

Inside Line says development of Jaguar’s supreme sports car, which is being co-developed with Williams F1, is moving fast. Williams engineers taking the lead of the car’s aerodynamic development have been challenged by cooling the car, as calculations reveal it required 1.562 square meters of air intake, which is larger than the car’s frontal area.
It can, however, produce enough down force to travel upside down at 120mph.

According to Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s global brand director, the C-X75 is “looking more like a sculpture than a car, and more beautiful,” as a result of these aerodynamic requirements that have altered the car’s design.

Jaguar engineering is heading the development team, with Williams providing 40 of the 100 engineers who are also contributing to the car’s carbon-fiber tub, bodywork development, and hybrid driveline.
Electric motors that drive each axle allows for considerable control over torque delivery to each wheel, and also enable the C-X75 to reach 60mph in under 3 seconds, 100mph in 6 seconds, and a top speed of over 200mph.

250 examples are to be built, priced at $1.15 million each, with deliveries to being at the end of 2013.

Development of the gas-turbine hybrid version unveiled with the concept will continue according to Hallmark, but will be offered “as an experimental car” for use on the track only.

The micro-gas turbines and elaborate exhaust systems have been installed into the C-X75 body and its idle-speed exhaust temperatures are only a tad higher than a conventional car’s.The production version will rely on a Cosworth-developed range-extender 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine based on a V8 F1 engine, producing 313hp per liter, which equates to a peak output of close to 500hp.

Jaguar will return to the competitive arena, racing at venues including Goodwood and the Nurburgring, as well as attending events on the historic motoring calendar including Mille Miglia, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and each round of the UK’s E-type challenge.
This investment and celebration of Jaguar’s heritage coincides with the automaker’s most extensive new product development cycle in its history.

Jaguar also recently introduced a subtle update to the famous Leaper logo, which has been given a shiny metallic finish and sports the Jaguar name below it.

Jaguar Global Brand Director, Adrian Hallmark, said: “Advanced engineering is part of our heritage – 2012 sees the 60th anniversary of Jaguar’s development of the disc brake for automotive use, and ten years since the marque introduced aerospace-inspired aluminum monocoque technology to its modern range, technology today used on both the XJ and XK.”

Looking ahead to the near future, he continued in claiming that: “Forward looking design is part of our heritage – the poised intent of the C-X16 concept pushes the boundaries today just as much as the SS Jaguar 100 did in 1935.

And racing is very much part of our heritage also – which is why we have launched the Jaguar Heritage Racing program that this year will see Jaguar C- and D-types in competitive action.”

Jaguar Heritage Racing’s first event will be the 2012 Mille Miglia retrospective in May, followed by the AVD Nurburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix in August and the Goodwood Revival in September.

Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) was employed to help develop the car and by 1990, prototype 001 was complete having been built by hand.

After two more years of tweaks the first XJ220 was delivered to a customer in June, 1992 for the princely sum of £470,000. Production ceased in 1994 by which time 275 cars had been built.
At 213mph it was the fastest production car in the world, and due to its advanced aluminum honeycomb body, was immensely strong and, considering its size, very light weighing just 1,470kg.

Powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, the XJ220 channeled its drive through 18-inch rear wheels via a 5-speed gearbox and developed 542hp and 475lb-ft of torque. Standstill to 60mph was timed at under 4 seconds.

The XJ220S was the road-going version of the XJ220C, built to compete in GT racing, boasting a carbon-fiber body, front splitter, wider sills and an adjustable rear spoiler.

Pictured here in yellow is the very first XJ220S, which was built using spare parts from the Le Mans cars and that created 680hp and 526lb-ft of torque thanks to an overhaul to the twin-turbo V6. Only six were ever built, with one recently being sold in auction for $230,000.

The silver car shown is chassis 004, one of the ten pre-production vehicles. It was used for tire and high speed testing at Fort Stockton, Texas in 1991 with the car hitting 213mph during the testing process.
