Jaguar is launching a 550-horsepower, high-performance model called the XKR-S at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1.
The uprated and upgraded XKR-S is so powerful in fact, it marks the fastest production Jaguar ever built, boasting 550 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque, which blasts this coupe from a dead stop to 60 miles per hour in just 4.2 seconds. Equally impressive, the XKR-S will continue from 60 to 100 mph in just 4.4 more seconds, and continue on to a top speed of 186 mph.
The XKR-S has a higher-output, supercharged V-8 engine, revised suspension and a new aerodynamically driven design. Jaguar says that the new XKR-S is also the most agile model ever, pointing to the aluminum body and tweaks to the front and rear suspensions to allow for the impressive handling.
“The XKR-S is a bold and exciting new model for Jaguar,” said Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s new global brand director. “We expect to attract both loyal and new Jaguar driving enthusiasts who still want the comfort, opulence and class … combined with inspirational performance.”
Included in the handling goodness is the freshly reprogrammed Adaptive Dynamics system, which Jaguar says helps driver to push their XKR-S further and harder than ever.
The car is being released in tandem with the 50th anniversary of the E-Type. The E-Type made its debut at a Geneva hotel in 1961.
Jaguar of Orlando can’t wait to debut this beauty on Central Florida soil. Ingenuity lives in every model – when are you coming in for a test drive?
